Lady Pioneers Fall to Georgia Perimeter
Spartanburg, SC- The Lady Pioneers shot 15 for 31 from the charity stripe Friday evening on their way to their first loss in the last six games.
SMC found themslves down by 12 points early against Georgia Perimeter College but made a strong comeback to close within three points at the half, 28-25.
The Lady Pioneers opened the second half on a 5-0 run and took the lead at 30-28 at the 19:15 mark. The Lady Jaguars responded and close the gap and led 48-40 midway through the second half.
The Lady Pioneers struggled from the line and fell behind by 16 points with four minutes to play and made a 15-7 run to close the game but lost 67-59.
Whitley Smith (Lee Central HS) led the Lady Pioneers (14-10, 5-0 Region X) in scoring with 20 points while Teqa McNeal (Dreher HS) chipped in 11.
SMC wil return to action Sunday by hosting Brunswick CC at 2:00 PM.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The College is in its 100th academic year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
