Lady Pioneers Shut Down Denmark Tech

SPARTANBURG -- The Lady Pioneers played aggressive defense to force Denmark Tech into 25 first-half turnovers Saturday, to jump out to a 49-10 halftime lead and never looked back.

Kierra Phillips (Gaffney HS) scored 10 points to lead the Lady Pioneers to a 72-35 Region 10 win.

Every Lady Pioneer recorded in the official game scorebook scored. 

"It is great to get the entire team involved in scoring for the game," exclaimed coach MJ.

The Lady Pioneers (11-9, 2-0) return to action at home Wednesday as Region 10 rival Clinton Junior College visits Bridges Arena for a 5:30 pm start.

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The College is in its 100th academic year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
