Lady Pioneers Hold on to Defeat Roane State
SPARTNBURG, SC- The Lady Pioneers basketball team opened up 2011with a strong 74-72 win over the Roane State College Raiderettes.
The Lady Pioneers led the entire game as the Raiderettes made a late run to close within two points, with 7 seconds left on the clock. SMC missed late as the Raiderettes gained control and tossed up a last second shot that missed the mark.
Tequila McNeal's (Dreher HS) 23 points paced the Lady Pioneers (7-7) to their fourth straight win. Roane State dropped to 10-3 on the year.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday at home verse Canberra, an Australian Club team, at 2 pm.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The College is in its 100th academic year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
