Johnson led nearly from start to finish as the Royals defeated Spartanburg Methodist College women's basketball, 76-65, on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers (14-13, 9-11 AAC) were paced by senior Halle Traylor's 18-point performance. She connected on five 3-pointers and dished out six assists in the loss. Destiny Middleton and Krystal Johnson also scored in double figures with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The Royals (10-14, 9-9 AAC) were led by the one-two tandem of Emery Tollett and Olivia Bolduc, who scored 23 and 21 points, respectively. Tollett added 12 rebounds and five assists for a double-double effort. Megan Biliter also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Middleton knocked down a 3-pointer with 3:39 remaining to cut the deficit to three, 66-63. However, the visitors closed the game on a 9-2 run to seal the victory.
SMC will wrap up the regular season Saturday with its Senior Day game, hosting Carolina at 2 p.m.
