Pioneer Volleyball Comeback Falls Short
SPARTANBURG, SC- The Lady Pioneers volleyball team fought hard but was not able to totally come back Tuesday evening against the Eagles of Toccoa Falls College.
After winning the first game 25-23, the Lady Pioneers lost the next two games 20-25, 14-25 and were on the brink of losing the fourth game before the "lights came on" and SMC scored 6 straight points to pull even with and then overtake the Eagles for a fourth game win, 25-23.
With the momentum clearly on the side of the Lady Pioneers, the Eagles dug down deep in the fifth game to pull out a 15-6 win and to clinch the match.
The Lady Pioneers (1-9) will travel Friday to Pensacola, FL for the Pensacola Junior College Tournament which lasts through Saturday.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia.
The College is in its 100th academic year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment this August. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
