Walaska, Ga. – Appalachian Athletic Conference leader Reinhardt University defeated Spartanburg Methodist College 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 on Friday afternoon.
The Eagles (25-5, 15-1 AAC) posted a .250 hitting percentage, led by Juliette Baffico with 14 kills and Jenna Smith with 11.
The Pioneers (12-18, 7-10 AAC) recorded eight service aces in the loss. Gracie Gabbert, Brook Noe, and Tristan Craine each had two to lead SMC. Leilani Campbell added eight kills, a .278 hitting percentage, and two blocks, while Braelynn Brewington contributed three blocks as SMC totaled six team blocks in the match.
SMC will look to snap a two-match losing streak when it travels to Gainesville, Georgia, on Saturday to face Brenau University at 11 a.m. The Tigers edged the Pioneers in three sets in the earlier meeting in Spartanburg, 25-19, 28-26, 28-26, on September 20.
