SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over Clinton College JV on Wednesday.
Spartanburg Methodist College (13-12) had 12 service aces in the first win on the day to go along with a .280 hitting percentage en route to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 win. It was an all-around team effort in the win as Rileigh Franklin had nine kills and three service aces in the win to pace the attack. Plus, Tristan Craine set the attack with 17 assists and four service aces. 10-different Pioneers recorded multiple kills and seven served up an ace.
The second match of the day, like the first, saw SMC control the play at both the service line and at the net. Hana Vucinic, who usually is the starting libero, moved into the rotation and hammered down a season-best eight kills and a .316 hitting percentage. Braelynn Brewington and Kendall Meinders each added five kills as the Pioneers posted a .245 hitting percentage. Brook Nee and Rylee Anderson had eight and seven assists, respectively. Aurora Aho and Tristan Craine each had three service aces as the Pioneers recorded 11 in the 25-13, 25-12, 25-22 win over Clinton College.
The two wins raises the home record for SMC to 6-1 on the season. Next, the Pioneers will travel to Waleska, Georgia to face Johnson (TN) at 3:30 p.m. and host Reinhardt at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.
