SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a convincing all-around performance, defeating Bob Jones 25-15, 26-24, 25-22 on Wednesday night. The Pioneers trailed briefly but maintained control for most of the match.
SMC (4-11) posted a season-high .257 hitting percentage, led by nine kills each from Leilani Campbell and Braelynn Brewington. Makinnley Smart added eight kills, Aurora Aho tallied six, and Hana Vucinic chipped in five.
Setters Brook Noe and Tristan Craine directed the attack with 22 and 12 assists, respectively. The Pioneers' service game produced seven aces from six different players, while Campbell anchored the defense with three solo blocks.
Bob Jones was led by Hannah Goodwin, who recorded a match-high 10 kills but hit just .027. The Bruins committed eight service errors and were limited to a .127 hitting percentage in the loss.
The Pioneers return to Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they face Columbia. SMC swept both meetings between the teams in 2024.
