Pioneers Sweep Life in Three to Snap Four-Match Losing Skid
MARIETTA, Georgia – The Spartanburg Methodist College volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a straight-set sweep of host, Life by the scores of 25-19, 31-29, and 25-16 on Friday night.
Spartanburg Methodist posted a .204 hitting percentage in the win compared to .121 for Life. Aurora Aho led the attack with nine kills and Brantlie Price added six to go along with a team-best 12 digs. Hana Vucinic added four service aces and nine digs to the winning efforts. Setters Brook Noe and Tristan Craine had 14 and 10 assists, respectively.
The match saw Life jump out to a 6-1 lead to start the match until the Pioneers settled in with six-straight points to tie the set at eight. The lead changed hands several times before Spartanburg Methodist pulled away with a 9-3 spurt to win the set.
The second set was a closely contested affair, with both teams exchanging points and the lead. The score was tied on seven occasions, including at 29 before a kill by Racquel Talley and a service ace by Kendall Meinders clinched the set by a 31-29 margin.
SMC dominated the third set, establishing an early lead and maintaining it throughout. The team's strong serving, including several service aces, was a significant factor in their win. Tristan Craine served three consecutive aces early in the set.
