SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College saw its three-match winning streak come to an end in a 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 loss to Johnson on Saturday.
The Pioneers (7-13, 1-5 AAC), playing their third match in four days, were led by Makinnley Smart, who paced the offense with 11 kills and a .269 hitting percentage. Kendall Meinders added eight kills, hit .300, and contributed five total blocks, while Aurora Aho turned in a strong all-around performance with eight kills and 10 digs.
Johnson (16-4, 5-1 AAC) posted a .230 hitting percentage, led by Abigail Brown with 12 kills and Luci Morris with eight. The Royals also recorded seven service aces and six blocks in the win.
Next up, SMC will travel to face Truett McConnell on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m.
