Makinnley Smart Named AVCA Honorable Mention NorthCentral Region
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Spartanburg Methodist College junior Makinnley Smart of the volleyball team was named AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) honorable mention all-NorthCentral region on Sunday.
Smart is the first SMC volleyball player to earn AVCA all-region honors in the NAIA era. In 2024, she also earned Continental Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team and First Team all-CAC honors. Smart averaged 2.40 kills, 0.58 digs and 0.44 blocks per set in leading the Pioneers to an 18-19 mark. She had 314 kills on the season with 16 times being in double figures with a season-high 15 in a five-set win over Carolina.
