Pioneers Have a Good Friday
SPARTANBURG, SC – The SMC Pioneers got off to a good start for Easter weekend with a 4-0 win over USC Salkehatchie.
Josh Adams pitched a complete game three-hitter to lead the Pioneers to the win. Adams had four strikeouts and improved to 5-1 on the season.
Luke Tollison, Zach Singleton, and Cody McElhaney each recorded RBIs in the win as the Pioneers scored one run in the first, second, third and sixth innings.
In game two, Corey Rhoney pitched five strong innings only giving up one run on two hits. Rhoney improved to 7-0 for the season.
Sophomore Sloan Gilliam hit a solo home run in the first inning and Marty Gantt hit a towering two-run homer in the second inning to pace the Pioneers' 13-hit attack. Gantt finished the game 2-for- 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
The Pioneers improved to 14-4 in the region and 29-6 overall to maintain its 23-game winning streak.
Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 99th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
