CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's soccer team showed grit on the road Saturday, taking on undefeated Truett McConnell University, ranked No. 11 nationally, before falling 4-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
The Pioneers (6-8-4, 3-7-3 AAC) displayed resilience against one of the conference's top offensive teams. Sophomore goalkeeper Ava Wilson had another strong outing, recording 12 saves while facing 16 shots on goal.
Truett McConnell (16-0-1, 13-0 AAC) extended a 1-0 halftime advantage with three second-half goals to secure the win.
Despite the result, SMC continues to show defensive toughness and growth as the team will seek a postseason opportunity for a second-straight season.
