PRs in Abundance for SMC Women's Cross Country
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - At the NAIA Appalachian Challenge, the SMC women's cross country team had a very successful performance on Friday morning.
The Pioneers' Sophia Outhous posted the fourth-fastest 5k in program history and set a PR by :42 with a time of 19:01.1 to lead SMC.
No. 1 Milligan took home the team title with a cumulative time of 1:29.32 and five runners in the top 16. The Buffaloes edged out Montreat as they were faster by 20 seconds. Plus, the Cavaliers of Montreat were led by freshman Heather Murphy, who took home the individual title by 3.8 seconds.
Also, for SMC, Audrey Noel recorded the eighth fastest 5k in program history with a PR of 19:34.9. The Pioneers also saw season-best performances for Averi Vance (22:18.1), Polly Addington (23:44.7), Nsimre Bahongwehre (24:23.1) and Anna Altman (25:00.2).
Next, in two weeks, SMC will compete at the CAC Championships on Friday, Nov. 8 hosted by Florida College at Holloway Park in Tampa, Fla.
