Bahongwerhe Sets Season Best to Lead Pioneers at USC Upstate Invite
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – At Saturday's USC Upstate Invite, which featured competition from across the collegiate landscape, Spartanburg Methodist College sophomore Nsimre Bahongwerhe led the Pioneer women's cross country team, covering the 5K course in 24:29.9 for a 193rd-place finish and a season-best time.
Junior Anna Altman was the other finisher for the Pioneers, placing 206th with a time of 26:35.5.
Jacksonville State claimed the team title, led by freshman Viola Jepleting, who won the individual race in 17:28.5, pacing a sweep of the top three spots for the Gamecocks.
The Pioneers will look to build on their progress as they turn their attention to the AAC Cross Country Championships next week, where they aim to close out the season with continued improvement and strong individual efforts.
