Spartanburg Methodist College Sweeps CAC Runner of the Week honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Spartanburg Methodist College freshman Caleb Williams was named the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on October 21, 2024. On the women’s side, sophomore Sophia Outhous was named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Williams improved his previous 8K personal best time by 43 seconds at last Friday’s 2024 Adidas/Winthrop Cross Country Invitational, a meet consisting primarily of NCAA Division I teams. The Columbia, South Carolina, native placed 19th among 36 runners with a time of 29:42.6.

Outhous ran a personal-best 6-kilomter time of 25:37.9 to be the Pioneers’ top finisher at the Adidas/Winthrop Invitational. The Irmo, South Carolina, native placed 27th out of 49 runners. The sophomore was the top NAIA performer in a field full of NCAA Division I competitors. It is her third weekly honor from the CAC to match the most by a women’s cross country student-athlete in 2024 along with Florida National University freshman Lismar Bentancourt.
