Men's Soccer Announces 2025 Schedule
Spartanburg, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men’s soccer program heads into its second year of NAIA competition and its first season in the rigorous Appalachian Athletic Conference with the release of the 2025 schedule.
Second-year head coach Doug Smith has assembled a 16-match slate designed to challenge his team, including nine contests on the home pitch at Nash Soccer Field in Spartanburg.
The 2025 campaign kicks off with the Pioneers hosting Northwestern (Iowa) on Thursday, August 21 at 4 p.m., followed by Southeastern (Fla.) on Saturday, August 23 at 4 p.m. Northwestern advanced to the semifinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament in 2024 and finished with an 8-5-5 record. Southeastern is coming off a 2024 season that saw them win the Sun Conference Tournament and reach the NAIA Championship First Round, finishing with a 10-3-5 mark.
The non-conference schedule also features road matchups at Mobile (Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.), Montreat (Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m.), and Georgia Gwinnett (Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.). Both Mobile and Georgia Gwinnett qualified for the 2024 NAIA Championship.
SMC will make its Appalachian Athletic Conference debut on Saturday, Sept. 6, traveling to Milligan for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff. The Pioneers’ first home AAC match is set for Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. against CIU—a rematch of the historic first NAIA contest in school history last fall.
The Pioneers are also excited to host Youth Day on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m., and will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 18 against Carolina at 3:30 p.m.
