Pioneers Sit Second After Opening Round of Pioneer Invitational
GAFFNEY, SC – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team sits in second place after the opening round of the Pioneer Invitational at Cherokee National Golf Course on Monday. The three-team field battled chilly and windy conditions in the first round.
Mars Hill, an NCAA Division II member, leads the team standings with a 363 (+75), holding a 36-stroke advantage over the Pioneers, who posted a 399 (+111).
Jenna Delmarsh of Mars Hill leads the individual standings after carding an 83 (+11), four strokes ahead of Wies Bouwma of Lake Sumter. Just behind them is SMC's top finisher, Adeline Todd, who shot a 90 (+18). Todd recorded four pars in her opening round.
Also competing for SMC, Isabella Marz and Melanie Meredith each shot a 102, with both recording two pars in their rounds. Gracelyn Toler posted a 105 and added a pair of pars, while Tinsley McDaris rounded out the lineup with a 132 (+60).
The final round is scheduled to tee off Tuesday at 11 a.m.
