Former Pioneer Witherspoon Featured In L.A. Times
Former SMC Centerfielder Travis Witherspoon ('09), currently in big-league spring training with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, earned some well-deserved publicity in a Tuesday article in the Los Angeles Times.
According to the article, Witherspoon is making a very good impression among big-league brass, including Manager Mike Scioscia: "He's one of those really athletic kids... he's been compared to a Gary Maddox-type, a guy that can really play center field and has plus speed and has to learn the offensive side of this game. But he has great potential. He's representing himself very well. So it's a step forward for the young man."
