The Pioneers take on East Georgia College in a 1 pm doubleheader at SMC's Mooneyham Field, Saturday February 5th.
"Pre-season rankings are flattering, and are useful in recruiting, but mean absolutely nothing in the long run. The 2011 Pioneers appreciate the respect given them and the program, but realize that Feb. 5 is the beginning of reality. The squad is ready to write its' own page in the SMC Baseball history book and is anxious to get started," says head coach Tim Wallace.
The Pioneers finished the 2010 season 46-10 and climbed as high as No. 6 in the NJCAA Division I baseball poll. The Pioneers finished the season ranked No. 19.
The 2010 season also saw the Pioneers claim a 32-game winning streak - the longest in team history.
