Five School Records Highlight SMC Women’s Track & Field at SWU GottaRun Invitational
Spartanburg Methodist College women's track & field produced several standout performances at the SWU Gotta Run Invitational, highlighted by five school-record efforts, multiple top-five finishes, and several qualifiers for the AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
In the field events, Mckensley Parks had an impressive debut, setting three school records and qualifying in three events. She placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 106-10 (32.56m), finished sixth in the shot put with a toss of 33-2 (10.11m), and took 13th in the javelin with a throw of 83-3 (25.37m).
On the track, Da'Sani Kinlaw qualified in a pair of events, finishing third in the 100m hurdles with a school-record time of 16.04 and placing seventh in the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 27.02.
Jayla Bivings also secured spots in two events, posting times of 17.90 in the 100m hurdles and 1:15.50 in the 400m hurdles, where she finished fourth.
The Pioneers also received a fifth-place finish from Eva Sapp in the 400m dash with a time of 1:06.83, while De'Nasia Robinson placed fifth in the 100m dash (12.94), recording the fifth-fastest time in school history.
On Friday, Elizabeth Byrd set a new school record in the 3000m race walk with a time of 43:16.91, while teammate Anna Altman finished third in 43:21.97.
