Kinlaw Sets School Record as Pioneers Compete at Liberty Open
Spartanburg Methodist College continued its indoor season at the Liberty Open on Friday. The two-day meet was consolidated into a single day, altering preparations for the Pioneers.
Sophomore Da'Sani Kinlaw lowered her own school record in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.78. Kinlaw's performance secured her a spot in the upcoming Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Also for the Pioneers, freshman Carson Byrd lowered her season-best time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a mark of 8.12. Her effort also met the AAC Indoor Track & Field Championship qualifying standard.
In the field events, freshman Mckensley Parks recorded a 13th-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 31 feet, 4.5 inches (9.56 meters).
The Pioneers will return to action on January 30 at the Tryon International in Mill Spring, N.C.
