Burke Leaves for Citadel Job
SPARTANBURG, SC – Rob Burke has stepped down as head
men's basketball coach at SMC to become an assistant coach at
The Citadel.
Burke was at SMC for six years and 117-68 overall. Before
coming to SMC, Burke coached at Limestone College and Campbell
University. His SMC teams won 24 games in 2007-08 and 22 in
2005-06.
"It's been a good six years at SMC, but it is time for
another step in my career. The Citadel is the right step for me and
my family," said Burke.
When asked about the move for Burke, SMC athletic director Mark
Perdue said, "I could not be more happy for him."
"Rob has worked hard for six years now and deserves this
opportunity," Perdue added.

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that
compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic
Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia,
and West Virginia. The College is in its 99th year of providing
quality education to students in a Christian environment.
More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at
other institutions of higher learning.
