A Special Senior Day for SMC's Bryan Bayonne

Spartanburg, S.C. – Senior Bryan Bayonne gave a special performance to the fans at Bridges Arena on Senior Night as the Spartanburg Methodist College men's basketball team defeated Clinton College, 114-92.
Bayonne, the lone senior, was honored after the game but it was his performance on the court on Monday that will add to his on-going legacy with the program. Prior to the game, he was named the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for a sixth time.
In the rout on Monday, Bayonne led five Pioneers in double figures with a season-high 37 points. The senior from Baton Route was a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line to go along with 10-for-22 from the field – 4 of 10 from beyond the 3-point line. He had 21 of his 37 in the first 20 minutes.
He was joined in double figures by Hunter DeCuir, who scored a career-high 19 after making five 3-pointers. Richard Rojas added 16, Tavarez Lacey had a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, DeAnthony Ross added 10 off the bench.
SMC (10-15) shot a blistering 51.9% from the field and made 13 3-pointers in the win to go along with an 87.5% (21 of 24) from the free-throw line as they led from start to finish.
Clinton College (11-11) was able to put four players in double figures in the contest. Jordan Snipes Campbell had a team-best 17, Jordan Maxwell added 14, Matthew Cleveland and Devinir Garvey had 12 and 11 points respectively.
Next, SMC heads to the upcoming Continental Athletic Conference Tournament in Lawrence, Kansas. The Pioneers, who are the No. 6 seed, will face Washington Adventist on Friday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. (CST)/6 p.m. (EST).
