SMC's Travis Dannecker Named AAC Pitcher of the Week
Spartanburg Methodist College junior baseball pitcher Travis Dannecker has been named the Pitcher of the Week by the Appalachian Athletic Conference, the league announced on Monday.
Dannecker, a senior left-hander from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, turned in a dominant outing in the opening game of the series against University of Pikeville, helping lead Spartanburg Methodist College to the victory.
Working efficiently on the mound, Dannecker limited the Bears to just three hits and one earned run across his outing while striking out seven batters to secure the win. The lefty kept the UPIKE hitters off balance throughout the game, mixing his pitches effectively and consistently working ahead in the count to neutralize the opposing lineup.
Dannecker’s performance set the tone for the series and continued a strong stretch on the mound for the Pioneers’ pitching staff. His ability to control the strike zone and generate key strikeouts helped prevent UPIKE from building any sustained offensive momentum.
The weekly conference honor recognizes the top pitching performance across the AAC and marks another milestone in Dannecker’s standout season for Spartanburg Methodist.
