SMC Beach Volleyball Loses to Carson-Newman University
Jefferson City, Tenn. – The Spartanburg Methodist College beach volleyball team dropped a pair of 5-0 decisions to host Carson-Newman on Saturday.
The Eagles, who honored their three seniors prior to the match, improved their record to 16-4 with the two wins.
In the first 5-0 victory of the day, the No. 1 pair of Brantlie Price and Katherine James lost by scores of 21-13, 21-17. In the second 5-0 win, CNU and SMC were engaged in a pair of tightly contested matchups at No. 1 and No. 2. The No. 1 pair of Price and James were edged by scores of 21-10, 21-12, while the No. 2 pair of Makinnley Smart and Hana Vucinic fell by a 21-13, 21-19 margin.
Next, the Pioneers will host St. Andrews on Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m., followed by matches against Truett-McConnell and Brenau at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively, as part of the SMC Invitational.
