Pioneers Fall 3-2 to Florida Memorial in TMU Invitational Finale
Cleveland, GA – The Spartanburg Methodist College beach volleyball team lost 3–2 to Florida Memorial in its final contest of the TMU Tournament on Saturday.
The Pioneers' No. 1 pair of Hana Vucinic and Rebekah Martin were 21-19, 21-12 winners. SMC picked up its second win of the day when the No. 3 pair of Katherine James and Gracie Gabbert made quick work of their opponents, winning by a 21-9, 21-8 margin.
Florida Memorial won at No. 4 by a 21-9, 21-10 margin and tied the match at two apiece as the No. 2 pair were 21-11, 18-21, 17-15 winners. The Lions also picked up a forfeit win at No. 5, which proved to be the difference in the match.
Next, SMC will travel to New Orleans to compete at the White Sands Volleyball Courts on the campus of Loyola. While in New Orleans, the Pioneers will face Mobile on Friday, Mar. 20 at 3 p.m. and host Loyola on Friday at 7 p.m. The weekend will wrap up with a contest against William Carey at noon.
