Two Lady Pioneers Qualify For NJCAA Golf Nationals
FORT BRAGG, NC -- Two members of the Lady Pioneers golf team qualified on Sunday to represent SMC in the National Junior College Athletic Association's women's golf national championship.
Freshman Kaitlyn Prescott (Wren HS / Piedmont, SC) took home the NJCAA Region X individual title Sunday with a first place finish at the Region X Tournament at Fort Bragg's Stryker Golf Course. Prescott shot a 174 for the two-day event (85 / 89).
Fellow SMC freshman Takima Butler (Aiken HS / Montmorenci, SC) finished in second place, shooting a combined 175 (88 / 87) on the 6,300-yard course.
Both ladies qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament on May 17 – 20 at Daytona Beach, FL
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The College is in its 99th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
