SMC Women's Golf Takes Part in the Atomic City Classic
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's golf team finished eighth at the Atomic City Classic on Tuesday.
The two-day tournament featured three nationally ranked junior colleges and three top 50 NAIA programs. Bethel (Tenn.), who is No. 49 in the latest NAIA rankings, took home the team title by six strokes. The Pioneers shot a team score of 516 for 36 holes.
SMC was led by the 23rd-place finish of Gracelyn Toler, who had a birdie in Tuesday's final round. For the tournament, Toler posted a score of +31 (87-88). Next, Isabella Marz moved up four spots in the final round for a 29th-place finish with a +41 (95-90) and Melanie Meredith was 36th with a (95-97). In her SMC debut, Layla VanAernem posted a score of +108 (135-117) to round out the PIonerrs lineup.
