SMC Men’s Golf: Campbell Finishes 4th at 11th Carolinian Amateur; Cheek Adds Top-50 Finish
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Spartanburg Methodist College men’s golf program continued its strong summer play this week, highlighted by a breakout performance from Thomas Campbell at the 11th Carolinian Amateur golf tournament.
Campbell surged up the leaderboard with a final-round 64 (-8), climbing 26 spots to secure a fourth-place finish in a highly competitive field. The strong closing round marked one of the lowest rounds of the tournament and underscored his ability to perform under pressure.
Fellow Pioneer Evan Cheek also delivered a steady performance, finishing tied for 45th with a 223 (+7) after rounds of 74-76-73. Also participating in the tournament from SMC but failing to make the final cut were Antonio Montenora and Kendall Howle.
The performance adds momentum for the Pioneer men’s golf program as players continue to compete in regional amateur events throughout the offseason.
