Bio

This is Abby Young’s first season as head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College, having previously led the softball program at Hesston College.

Prior to Hesston, Young was an assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College. Having served as the infield coach, her defenders racked up awards including Region XI Defender of the Year and 3 All-Region infield selections. Four of her infielders also earned ICCAC Player of the Week honors. She also assisted in leading the Reivers to a 41-21 record in 2022, a top 5 national ranking in all offensive categories, and broken school records in homeruns (101), stolen bases (126), and triples (22).

Young began her playing career at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL, where she was named an Arrowhead All-Conference selection as a shortstop in 2017 and 2018 along with NJCAA Academic All-American honors in 2017 and 2018. She then transferred to William Penn University where she earned All-Conference honors in the HAAC and was named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.
