Pioneers Win Davidson Davie Collegiate

The SMC Men's Golf Team swept the field in the individual and team competition at the Davidson Davie Collegiate at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville, NC this past week. Corbin Pye and Jake Vaughan led the Pioneers with a two-day total of 145. Vaughan and Pye went into a sudden-death playoff to win the individual portion of the event. Both players hit the fairway and green. Pye made a 15 footer for birdie to best Vaughan's par to win the event. "I am so proud of the entire team, but Jake and Corbin really battled each other today and I could not be more proud of them," says Coach Kyle Owings. The Pioneers won the team competition by over 50 shots over host Davidson Davie.
