Bio

Michael Johannes is in his first year as an Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Spartanburg Methodist College.

Johannes served as an assistant track coach at High Point Academy in 2022 and was a volunteer assistant from 2020-21 at his alma mater, Bob Jones University. He has also worked in the retail sector as a manager at Gotta Run Spartanburg, Gotta Run Five Forks in Simpsonville and as a salesperson at Gotta Run Clemson. 

Johannes is a 2020 graduate of nearby Bob Jones University where he was a member of the cross country and track and field team. The Seneca, South Carolina native was a three-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and was also active in the Civil Air Patrol, during which time  Cadet Commander of GA 506, the Vice Chair on the Region's Cadet Advisory Council, and the Region's Assistant Representative to the National Cadet Council. He served as the Vice Chair on the Southeast Region’s Cadet Advisory Council and as the Region’s Assistant Representative to the National Cadet Council. In 2017, he received the Carl A. Spaatz award (#2144), the highest honor in the cadet program.
