Bailey Smith takes home Pitcher of the Year

Pioneer hurler Bailey Smith (Shelby, NC) took home the 2012 Region X Pitcher of the Year at the annual Region X awards banquet.

Region X coaches voted for the awards and Smith took home the most votes with teammate Alison Ruppe earning the third most votes.

Smith 19-7 overall on the year, played in 43 games. She pitched 179.2 innings and allowed on 43 runs (17 earned). Smith compiled a ERA of 0.662 and struck out 205 hitters. SHe only allowed 108 hits.

Smith will be up for All-American consideration as well.
