Thad Fox enters his third year as head coach of the SMC Lady Pioneers softball team in 2011-2012.
Fox has a current record of (56-34) in two seasons with the Pioneers. In 2010-2011 Fox led the Pioneers to a second place finish during regular season play with a 20-8 region x record. The Pioneers also finished runner-up in the Region X Tournament for the second straight year to tourney winner Pitt CC.
Fox and the Pioneers have ben successful in placing Lady Pioneers into four year colleges. Three players from the 2009-2010 season went on the play at a four year school while the 2010-2011 season saw six players move on to four year schools. The schools include- North Carolina A&T University, USC-Beaufort, USC-Aiken, Limestone, Northwood University in Fl, Newberry College, Western Carolina, University of Central Florida, Charleston Southern, and University of South Carolina.
Fox's players have also earned individual honors with nine Region X first team members and two second team members. Six players have also earned Region X All Tournament team accolades.
The Pioneers are also successful in the classroom, the 2009-2010 team had a 2.75 team grade point average. The 2010-2011 squad finished with a 2.965 team gpa.
Fox previously served as the assistant softball team, a position
in which his responsibilities included coaching outfielders and
assisting with recruiting. With the assistance of his leadership,
the MHC team finished second in 2009 in the South Atlantic
Conference.
He organized and has coached the North Carolina Sun Devils-Elite
travel softball team, which has traveled throughout the Carolinas,
Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee and Colorado in showcase
tournaments.
Fox has led softball players who have gone on to play at colleges
and universities such as Lees McRae College; Queens College, in
Charlotte, NC; Charleston Southern University; Chipola College; The
College of Charleston; Tusculum College; Wingate University;
Greensboro College; Emory College; Mars Hill College; the
University of North Carolina at Pembroke; and Meredith College.
He also previously served for four seasons as the head softball
coach at Freedom High School in Morganton, NC. He coached the
Freedom High School team to a 79-28 record during those four
seasons and led them to four playoff appearances in which they
never finished lower than 3rd place. As head coach at Freedom, he
also led fundraising efforts which provided funds to redo the
entire playing field and the installation of lighting, fencing and
seating.
Fourteen of Fox’s high school players received All-State
recognition, while 23 made All-District. One of his players was
named District player of the year.
Fox is a two-time Northwestern 4A Conference Coach of the Year
(2005, 2008) and was elected West Region Senior Games Assistant
Coach (gold medal winners) in 2008. In 2007 and 2008 he was
elected to serve as Region 7 Chair and a NCFSCA Board of Directors
member. He also served as Region 7 head coach for the North
Carolina State Game’s inaugural event in 2007.
He also served as an assistant coach in football,
women’s basketball and baseball during different times at
Freedom High School.
Fox and his wife Amber, the head women’s basketball coach at
Freedom High School, resides in Morganton, NC.
Colby Corn

Colby Corn enters his second year as assistant coach of the SMC Lady Pioneers softball team in 2011-2012.
Colby, a graduate of Mauldin High School has been around fastpitch softball for most of his life. His mother Vicki, is a former SMC coach and current assistant coach at J.L. Mann High School and Head Coach/Organizer of the Carolina Crush Organization.
Colby will assist with infielders, hitters and coach first base this season.
Ashley Moore

Ashley Moore enters her third year as an assistant coach in
charge or the SMC Lady Pioneers pitching staff.. Moore is a
graduate of James F. Byrnes High School and continued her education
and softball career at North Greenville University. Moore is
currently employed as a kindergarten teacher for Spartanburg County
School District 1.
As North Greenville’s starting pitcher, Moore received
“Rookie of the Year” in 2002, All-Region 2002, and
Sophomore year was awarded All Region for 2003-2004 Season.
Beginning the 2004-2005 season Moore recovered from shoulder
surgery and continued her playing time at 3rd base. She
received “Best Defensive Player” during her Junior and
Senior year at North Greenville University.
She has also been a part of the Carolina Thundercat organization
for 8 years. Moore was assistant coach for 2 years for the 14U and
the 16U, and served as head coach for the 14U Thundercats.
Beginning in 2006-2008 she became the assistant coach of the 18U
team working with her father. This past summer she also worked with
her father and was the assistant to the 23U and 16u Carolina
Alleycats.
Moore resides in Moore, SC.
