SMC Cross Country Teams Ranked in Top 10

SPARTANBURG, SC-  The SMC Pioneer cross country teams are ranked in the top 10 of the first official NJCAA poll of the season.

The women's team is ranked No. 6 and the men are ranked No. 9.

In the first meet of the year, the Eye Opener Invitational, the women placed 10th and the men placed 11th in a field made up of mostly NCAA Division I schools.

Sophomore Hannah Chaney (Brusnwick HS, Ohio) finished 26th for the women and sophomore Kiki DeHondt (Pendleton HS) finished 37th for the men.

The Pioneers will compete September 18 at the ASICS/Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, SC.

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia.

The College is in its 100th academic year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment this August. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
