Pioneers look to Cantrell while rebuilding
The spring 2012 women's golf campaign is one continued on rebuilding. After finishing the final NJCAA national poll in 2011 ranked in the top 20 nationally, all four starters transferred to USC-Upstate, Flagler University, North Greenville University, and The Citadel respectively. This fall Brooke Cantrell led the Lady Pioneers and Coach Owings expects to see more of the same this spring from Brooke. "Brooke has led both in the classroom and on the course. I expect for her to only get better over this semester and next year" says Owings. Sarah Hunter and Chandler Mansel will round out the top three players this Spring. SMC also has two new players playing golf this semester. Elizabeth "Chance" Pearson graduated early from Dorman High School and will be playing as well as Cassidy Evett from Easley, SC. This Spring, the women's team will play at the Montreat College Invite on March 11-13, the North Greenville University Invite on March 25-27, and finally the Piedmont College Invitational on April 1-3.
