Pioneers Set for Region 10 Tournaments
LANCASTER, SC - The SMC men's soccer team men on Saturday defeated Cape Fear CC, 3-1, to seal the regular season championship and a first round bye to the Region 10 Tournament hosted by Cape Fear CC in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The Pioneers finished the Region 10 season with 10-2 record (12-2-1 overall) and will play Belmont Abbey JV, Thursday October 28 to complete the regular season schedule.
The Lady Pioneers completed the 2010 regular season with a 6-0 victory at USC Lancaster and locked up second place in the region heading into the Region 10 Tournament.
Tori Waddell (Wade Hampton HS) and Candace Jones (Ninety Six HS) scored two goals a piece to pace the Lady Pioneers. Kayla Kight (White Knoll HS) and Jillian Bennett (Dorman HS) each scored one goal.
The Lady Pioneers finished the regular season 10-4-1 overall and 9-3 in the region and will host a first round Region 10 Tournament game next week.
With a first round victory the Lady Pioneers will travel to Wilmington , NC for the Region 10 Tournament held October 30-31.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia.
The College is in its 100th academic year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
