Pioneers Take Two from Wolves
Newberry, SC - The Pioneers earned a doubleheader sweep Monday against Newberry College JV 9-0 and 5-3.
Tyler Wilson (Gaffney HS) pitched four innings of no-hit baseball to pick up his first win of the season in the game.
Luke Tollison (Laurens Academy) went 3-for-4, two RBI's and Tyler Jackson (Robert E. Lee Academy) went 2-for-3, 2 RBI's, to lead the Pioneers.
In game two, Stephen Leopard (South Aiken HS) picked up the victory as Ian McKinney (Dorman HS) got the save.
Reggie Weatherford (Lake City HS) led the Pioneers at the plate, hitting 2-for-4 as Tyler Jackson hit his first homerun of the season.
The Pioneers (6-2) return to action Wednesday afternoon as they host Stanly CC at 1 pm.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The College is in its 100th academic year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
