The Pioneers had two scrimmages during their two week preseason. The first was against Truett McConnell University, out of Georgia, at home on Saturday, August 17th. It was a good learning opportunity as all the players were able to see the floor and work through different line ups. Our second scrimmage was Wednesday evening against Converse College. The Pioneers generally always have a spring and fall scrimmage with the Valkyries. It is great local competition and a good thing for our student-athletes to play at a higher level.
“It’s great we get to scrimmage four-year schools before the season. It really allows me to see who is ready to play and who works well next to each other. Anna McKnight is a new face for us who has the opportunity to make a big impact, so I am excited about what she will do. Kameron Neese, formally one of our setters, has transitioned into the libero jersey and will do a great job for us as well. We have some strong sophomore leaders who know the system, we will just need to execute at the right times.”
The Pioneers will host opening weekend in Bridges Arena. Playing at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM both Friday and Saturday, August 23-24. There is no entry fee, so come show some support!
