2011-2012 Lady Pioneers open the season Wednesday
The 2011-2012 edition of the Lady Pioneer basketball team will take the floor for their first regular season matchup against Emanuel College on Wednesday, November 2nd at 6:00pm. This year's squad will have a new leader on the sidelines. Briana Clark (Morganton, NC) replaces Melissa Naftzger who resigned this past May to take the head coaching position job at Bluefield College.
Coach Clark is extremely excited about her first season at the helm of the Lady Pioneers basketball program as she takes over an experienced team with no shortages of depth or size . SMC's squad will feature ten newcomers and seven players from last year's squad that went 21-10 overall.
After a heart breaking loss to Georgia Perimeter last season in the District Championship and finishing with an outstanding perfect run through Region-X play at 9-0 the Lady Pioneers are still looking to better their accomplishments from last season. Our goals for this year are to play hard every night, take care of each other on and off the court as a family should and continue to improve in the class room all while keeping another Region Title in our vision." I couldn't have asked for a better group of young ladies to start my coaching career with. Their dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm will help us prevail to our season goals".
