Eastwood leads five Pioneers on Region X All Tournament Team

Lauren Eastwood (Charleston, SC), Brooke Barnhill (Greenville, SC), Bailey Smith (Shelby, NC), KC Shue (Concord, NC), and Leea Polin (Charleston, SC) led the Pioneers to their thrid consecutive runner up finish in the Region X Tournament.

The Pioneers had to fight back on Sunday to get to the championship game after falling to ATC 1-0 on Saturday night. SMC knocked off Pitt CC, then defeated Aiken before falling in the final game. The Pioneers beat USC Salkehatchie on Friday and Pitt CC on Saturday morning.

"We had a good showing.. I'm very proud of the ones who made the All Tourney team and we had a few that could've made the team as well." Lauren was on fire on weekend, KC caught just about every inning. Polin was a leader as she always is, Bailey was dominat all weekend. She got tired on Sunday, but she's a stud. Brooke helped set the table all weekend.

"As always numbers can limit the awards but I thought, Morgan Cox had an outstanding weekend as did Katie Seabrook, Alison Ruppe, Amanda Hayes, Chelsea Smith, Breana Putman, and Rebekah Smith did. Any of those could've been named to the team.."

Under head coach Thad Fox, the Pioneers are 13-6 in the Region X Tournament. The have come out of the loser's bracket each of his three years to reach the championship game and also forced the "IF" game.
