Game one.. SMC 9-- Patrick Henry -- 0
Stong pitching typically beats good hitting but when one team has both then look out.. The Lady Pioneer softball team umped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning over Patrick Henry and never looked back. Sophomore, Leea Polin and freshman Lacy Smith each collected hits in the first.
That was all sophomore Bailey Smith (Anderson University signee) needed as she quickly dispatched of the visiting Patriots. Smith threw five innings, struck out seven and only allowed two hits.
Eight Pioneers collected hits in the game.. "We did a good job of forcing them into some mistakes early and then took advantage of their other mistakes. We also hit the ball very hard a few times. I love seeing everyone in our lineup collecting hits." said head coach Thad Fox
Bailey was outstanding in the circle today and made quick work of Patrick Henry.. Sophomore catcher Casey Shue was very good tonight as well. She knows our staff and really understands the game of softball."
