Pioneers Show Rust in Loss at Brunswick
SUPPLY, NC - The SMC Pioneers men's basketball team was back on the floor Saturday after a 30 day layoff as they started Region 10 play Saturday at Brunswick Community College.
The Brunswick Dolphins didn't miss a shot in the first half and were leading 50-28 at the half.
The Pioneers came out strong in the second half and cut the lead to 5 points, but ran out of steam down the stretch and lost 85-69.
Johnathan Jones (Timmonsville HS) led the Pioneers (11-4) with 14 points.
The Pioneers return to action Monday as they host Walters State Community College at Bridges Arena.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The College is in its 100th academic year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
