Pioneers Impress With Win on Alumni Weekend
With the newest inductee of the SMC Pioneer Hall of Honor Orlando Hudson sitting in the stands the Pioneer men's basketball didn't dissapoint with an impressive 73-50 win over visiting Guilford Tech. The win marked the Pioneers 5th in a row.
The Pioneers were led by Sophomore Mario Pendarvis. Pendarvis recorded his first double double on the early season with a season high 24 points and a career high 13 rebounds. He also added 5 steals to his stat line. Freshmen Jalen Nesbitt and Travis Black also had strong outings in the win. Nesbitt, a 6'4 guard, scored a career high 21 points, while Black, a 6'3 point guard, posted career highs in both points (15) and rebounds (8).
With the win, the Pioneers improve to 5-1 on the season. SMC will return to action on Tuesday, November 22nd as they host a very good Walters State team in Bridges Arena. "Walters State will be a very good team and very well coached," said head coach Jeff Brookman. "It will take a total team effort in order for us to be successful."
