Crockett- Nesbitt lead Pioneers to first win
What a difference a night makes. The Pioneers looked to rebound from last nights poor shooting night from the floor and charity stripe in a loss to Roane State CC. SMC shot 53% from the floor and drained 21 of 30 free throws enroute to a commanding 89-53 win over Emmanuel Colleges JV team.
Ronell Crockett (six rebounds) and Jalen Nesbitt sparked the Pioneer offense by adding 18 points each. Mario Pendarvis added six points and 10 rebounds. !3 different Pioneers scored tonight which can prove beneficial down the road with the depth of the team.
Rebounding was key for us tonight said head coach Jeff Brookman, we were very aggressive on the glass tonight which is a change from last nights outing as well. I'm very pleased that we bounced back from last nights tough loss, this was a total team effort and we got contributions from everyone. Every win we get is precious and we will enjoy this until midnight, then it's back to work.
The Pioneers play host to the Pioneer/Swanny Classic this Friday and Saturday. Please check back for schedule, updates, and scores.
Note: Parking on the SMC campus will be limited this weekend. In addition to the new construction, SMC will be hosting several different sporting events this weekend. Softball plays at home as well as the District Championship Mens Soccer matchup between SMC and Darton College on Saturday @ 2pm.
