Former Pioneer Hembree gets final outs in AFL All Star game
Former Pioneer RHP and current San Francisco Giants Minor Leaguer Heath Hembree was selected to the Rising Stars Game in the Arizona Fall League.
The game will be played Saturday and will air on the MLB network at 8:00 PM. He is currently playing with the Scottsdale Scorpions(AFL), along with former SMC teammate and Angels prospect Travis Witherspoon, who leads the team in homeruns.
Just like the 2012 World Series, the 2012 Rising Stars Game ended with a Giants closer getting a punch out. San Francisco prospect Heath Hembree struck out Red Sox prospect Michael Almanzar with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to secure a 9-4 win for the East Division. Hembree entered the game with runners at 1st and 3rd one out. He walked Rymer Liriano to load the bases before getting Chris McGuiness to pop out to right and then Alamanzar to finish the game.
