Pioneers Pound 33 Hits in Sweep of Newberry JV
NEWBERRY, SC -- The Pioneers used a nine-run first inning in game one to set the tone for the day in route to a 15-4 game one victory on Wednesday.
Cody McElhaney and Jeremy "Soup" Campbell led the Pioneer attack going 3-for-3 and 2-for-4, respectively, with two RBI each. Zach Godley (1-0) picked up his first win of the year.
In game two, the Pioneers continued the hot hitting by pounding out six runs in the second inning for a 12-7 win. The Pioneers combined for 17 hits for the game and were led by Luke Tollison, 3-for 4, two RBI and a homerun; and Reggie Weatherford went 4-for-5.
Ben Carlson (1-1) got the win for the Pioneers, who improved to 14-6.
The Pioneers are on the road Thursday as they travel to Hartsville, SC to play the Coker Cobras in a twinbill.
